The gay wedding between U.S-based former Redeemed Christian Fellowship (RCF) leader in Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Jimmy Micheal Adekoya, and his partner, Seamus O’Donovan, has caused a stir on social media after photos from the wedding surfaced online.

Pastor Jimmy, who was a preacher, music director and president of RCF during his undergraduate days as a Microbiology student in OOU, tied the knot with his partner in the U.S.

Jimmy flaunted his ring with his partner in the photos shared on social media.

The Redeemed Christian Church of God has maintained a strong stance against homosexuality in the church.

On October 28, 2024, the church announced the suspension of two ministers, Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello and Deacon Oke Mayowa, following allegations of homosexuality against them.

Their suspension was contained in an internal memo signed by the RCCG National Overseer, Pastor Sunday Akande, titled “RCCG Suspends Two Pastors Amidst Homosexuality Allegations.”

Akande informed the church’s Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration of the decision to temporarily relieve the accused of their duties while the church conducts an investigation.

“Our mission is deeply rooted in the teachings of the Bible, and we must address these allegations with the seriousness they deserve,” he stated.

“For RCCG, adhering to these principles is seen as a core part of its mission,” Akande further noted.

Akande ordered thorough investigation of the allegations.
